Since November was already done when I started October, I took some liberties and my favorite part of fall came early. Frost, the herald of winter, is accompanied by rich reds and browns and lavenders. The silk leaves were part of a table centerpiece I found at a Thrift Store. Free to fall on a brook, rapidly icing over, they are only partially secured to the background.

I invented a new stitch to frost them around their edges. The brook is covered with a piece of polyester gauze to give it sheen. The leaves coming off the edge are meant to invite the viewer into the picture and give a sense of movement.
