"At
Risk "
by Thom Atkins The face is of cotton and vintage silk Kimono, machine sewn and hand quilted with glass, bone, brass and jet beads. I wanted the look of a dew or raindrop spangled spider web, but when I got the web done I realized I was going to have to put dewdrops over all the flowers and foliage (groan). I commissioned Wayne Robbins to do a lamp-worked bead for the body of the spider. While he was making it, I decided the spider should be ?at risk? too and put in the birds. When the spider was done I wasn?t sure who was more at risk, the spider or the birds.
